Senior Childcare Lawyer

Service Care Legal are working with a London Borough Council who are seeking a Senior Childcare Lawyer to join their team on a locum basis. Please find below further details.
 
ROLE:                  Senior Childcare Lawyer
LOCATION:         London
RATE:                   £55.00ph umbrella  / £48.48ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / £43.26ph PAYE exc. holiday pay
CONTRACT:        3 months with possibility of extension
 
Please note that this role would require office attendance 1 day per week.
 
Job Role
 

• Lead on complex childcare law matters (Children Act 1989, Adoption & Children Act 2002), providing expert legal advice and managing proceedings with minimal supervision.
• Oversee and support a team of lawyers and paralegals, ensuring high performance, quality standards, and effective service delivery.
• Act as a key advisor to senior stakeholders, committees, and departments, delivering strategic legal guidance and contributing to corporate initiatives.

 
Person Specification
 

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX (current practising certificate) with 5 years’ PQE in childcare law.
• Strong, up-to-date knowledge of public child protection legislation and relevant case law.
• Proven experience handling complex childcare cases, ideally within a local authority setting.
