Service Care Legal are working with a South London local authority is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Lawyer to support their Housing and Litigation function on a temporary/agency basis.
ROLE: Housing & Prosecutions Lawyer
LOCATION: South London / hybrid working (2 days per week in the office)
RATE: £50.00ph umbrella / £44.11ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / £39.36ph PAYE exc. holiday pay
CONTRACT: 3 months with possibility of extension / 36 hours per week
This position will involve handling a varied and demanding caseload, with a particular emphasis on prosecution work, as well as delivering clear, high-quality legal guidance and representation to assist the Council in achieving its service objectives.

- Oversee a busy and complex caseload covering housing litigation and enforcement matters.
- Lead on prosecution cases, including preparation, progression, and advocacy where required.
- Deliver specialist legal advice to internal departments, ensuring adherence to relevant legislation and best practice.
Candidate Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive holding a current practising certificate.
- Demonstrable experience in housing law and litigation within a local authority or similar setting.
- Strong background in prosecution work.
- Confident advocacy skills and the ability to manage a demanding caseload effectively.
