Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Practitioner to join the Adults Social Care Team at Knowsley Borough Council. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified social worker looking to take on a leadership role, supporting practitioners, promoting best practice, and driving service improvement within a busy local authority setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide supervision and support to Social Workers and Social Care Coordinators as directed by the Team Manager.
- Support and develop students on placement and Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) practitioners.
- Deliver professional advice, guidance, and support in line with the Care Act 2014 and best practice standards.
- Lead and coordinate team learning through reflective supervision, coaching, mentoring, and co-working.
- Support colleagues with risk management planning and assessments, particularly in complex and high-risk situations.
- Undertake quality assurance activities, including audits of assessments, support plans, and case records.
- Work alongside the Safeguarding and Quality Improvement Service to identify learning and development needs.
- Contribute to practice development and service improvement initiatives.
- Promote legal literacy and provide expertise regarding key legislation, including:
- Care Act 2014
- Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Mental Health Act 2007
- Manage an appropriate caseload, including complex and high-risk cases where required.
- Chair and contribute to multi-agency meetings, including Strategy Meetings, MARAMs, and Best Interests Meetings.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording in accordance with professional and organisational standards.
- Maintain continuous professional development and specialist expertise aligned to service needs.
- Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
- Substantial experience within Adult Social Care.
- Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory responsibilities.
- Experience supporting, supervising, or mentoring social care professionals.
- Ability to manage complex cases and provide professional leadership.
- Excellent communication, assessment, and decision-making skills.
- Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) qualification and registration.
- Best Interests Assessor (BIA) qualification.
- Practice Educator qualification.
- Willingness to undertake additional professional qualifications in line with service requirements.
- 3-month ongoing contract.
