Senior Property Lawyer

Service Care Legal are currently recruiting on behalf of an East London Borough Council who are seeking a Senior Property Lawyer to join their team on a contract basis providing high-quality legal advice and support on a wide range of property and regeneration matters.

ROLE:                  Senior Property Lawyer
LOCATION:         East London
RATE:                   £50–£55 per hour umbrella / £48.46ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / £43.24ph PAYE exc. holiday pay
CONTRACT:        Initial 3 months with possibility of extension, 36 hours per week

Please note that this role would require office attendance 2 days per week.

Key Responsibilities 

• Provide specialist legal advice on all aspects of property law, including development, regeneration, land transactions, home ownership and related matters.
• Manage a varied caseload of both residential and commercial property work.
• Draft, review and negotiate complex agreements, leases, contracts and related documentation.
• Support council committees and directorates with legal guidance, deputising for senior colleagues when required.
• Undertake advocacy in courts or tribunals where necessary.
• Contribute to the delivery of an efficient, responsive and customer-focused legal service.

Requirements 

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, FILEX or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in property law, ideally with knowledge of the local government environment.
• Strong understanding of property development and regeneration work.
• Ability to manage a demanding caseload independently.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills.
