Senior Residential Care Officer Children’s Residential Services | Doncaster
We are currently recruiting Senior Residential Care Officers to join our Children’s Residential Services across Doncaster. This is a challenging but deeply rewarding role, offering the opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people who need stability, care and strong adult role models.

Salary & Benefits
- Grade 8 salary: £33,708 depending on experience and qualifications
- All-inclusive allowance of 8.5% for unsocial working hours
- Total salary range: £35,438 – £39,319
- Equivalent to £18.37 – £20.37 per hour
- Total salary range: £35,438 – £39,319
- Sleep-in payments: £40.77 per shift (average 4 per month – approx. £2,000 per year)
- Overtime paid at time and a quarter for hours over 37
- Rota includes 2 weekends off in every 4
- South Yorkshire Pension Authority pension scheme
- Employer contributions from £5,552 – £6,160 per year (subject to employee contributions)

- Permanent roles available
- Full time: 37 hours per week
- Part time: 18.5 hours per week
The Role As a Senior Residential Care Officer, you will work under the supervision of the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager, taking on delegated responsibility for skilled practice, supervision and shift leadership.

- Act as a positive role model and “good parent” to children and young people
- Lead shifts and support the development of staff within the home
- Contribute to creating a warm, caring and structured environment
- Support children with emotional, social and physical needs
- Advocate for children and promote their welfare at all times
- Work within the home’s ethos, Statement of Purpose and safeguarding procedures
What We’re Looking For We’re seeking motivated, resilient and compassionate professionals who have:
- Level 3 TQUK Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- At least 12 months’ experience working in a children’s residential home
- Experience supporting young people with complex and challenging behaviours
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to work a rota including weekends, evenings and sleep-ins
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and child-centred practice

- Homes supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD)
- Short Breaks services for children and young people with disabilities or complex health needs
- Medium to long-term residential homes for children with disabilities or complex health needs
- Future services, including an emergency / end-of-care provision planned to open in 2025
Working Patterns Rotas typically run over 4 weeks, with approximately 9 days off per rota, and include:
- Morning shifts: 7am – 3pm
- Afternoon shifts: 2pm – 10pm
- Afternoon & sleep-in: 2pm – 11pm, then 7am – 2pm
