Overview:
We have a great opportunity for a Chartered Building Surveyor to join a well-established Housing Association on an interim basis. The successful candidate will act as the technical expert on complex surveying matters, providing professional support across disrepair, legal, and asset management cases.
Responsibilities:
- Lead on complex and high-profile disrepair cases, preparing detailed inspection reports and acting as an expert witness where required.
- Provide technical advice to support responsive and planned maintenance teams, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practice.
- Inspect properties to assess defects, produce housing condition reports, and recommend appropriate remedial actions.
- Liaise closely with internal teams, contractors, and external consultants to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Offer technical support on Disabled Facility Grants, customer permissions, and retrospective approvals.
- Support the delivery of planned maintenance programmes through technical inspections and advice.
- Maintain strong communication with legal and operational colleagues to ensure cases are managed effectively and professionally.
- Degree in Building Surveying or related discipline.
- Chartered status (MRICS or equivalent).
- Proven experience in property surveying, disrepair, or asset management.
- Excellent knowledge of building regulations, construction standards, and health & safety legislation.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience within a housing or social landlord environment desirable.
- Full driving licence and access to own vehicle.
