You will provide specialist inspection reports, defect diagnosis, and expert witness support for legal disrepair claims.
You will work alongside the Disrepair Surveying Manager, offering technical guidance across a wide range of teams and ensuring statutory compliance, high-quality customer service, and robust professional standards.

Responsibilities
  • Provide full technical support to the legal team on disrepair and legal claims, including attending court as an expert witness.
  • Support multi-disciplinary projects delivered by internal teams and approved contractors, ensuring statutory compliance and high customer standards.
  • Inspect, diagnose and advise on repair requests and defects, providing appropriate technical solutions.
  • Investigate and report on technical defects, preparing Housing Conditions reports as required.
  • Offer technical maintenance advice, liaising with operations, supervisors, trade teams, subcontractors and consultants.
  • Obtain quotations for repair and specialist works in line with financial regulations.
  • Provide technical approval for Disabled Facility Grant applications, including site inspections and post-completion checks.
  • Assist with customer permissions and retrospective approvals.
  • Support planned maintenance programmes through property inspections and component life assessments.
  • Deliver excellent customer service, adopting an empathetic and pragmatic approach to resolving queries, requests, and complaints.
  • Work collaboratively across directorates to share knowledge and support continuous improvement.
  • Maintain high standards of written and verbal communication, ensuring data quality and accurate record keeping.
  • Undertake additional duties as required and commensurate with the role.
Requirements
  • Degree in Building Surveying or related discipline (RICS-approved or working toward Associate, ideally with expert witness experience).
  • Proven experience in property surveying, asset management or building consultancy.
  • Strong knowledge of UK building regulations, construction standards and H&S legislation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage, influence, and motivate stakeholders.
  • Highly motivated, able to work under pressure and effectively prioritise workload.
  • Commercially aware with a focus on achieving value for money.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and an understanding of maintenance management software.
  • Full driving licence and access to transport for site visits.
  • Able to demonstrate core organisational values and behaviours.
