Social Care Case Assessor – Autism Team (Temporary Cover)
Location: Bickerstaffe House, Bickerstaffe Square, Talbot Road, Blackpool
Contract: 4 weeks, 37 hours per week
Hybrid Working: 3 days in office, 2 days from home
We are seeking a Social Care Case Assessor to join Blackpool Council’s Autism Team on a temporary 4-week basis to cover sickness absence. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to vital adult social care services while working in a supportive, hybrid environment.

About the Role
- Undertake Care Act reviews for autistic adults.
- Carry out needs-led assessments, construct and monitor outcome-based care packages, and facilitate access to services.
- Work closely with social work colleagues, carers, providers, and partner agencies to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.
- Ensure all work complies with the Care Act (2014), Mental Capacity Act (2005), and safeguarding policies.
- Support service users in making informed decisions, advocating on their behalf where required.
- Enhanced DBS (Adult Workforce) – including Adult’s Barred List check.
- Minimum 2 years’ references with employment gaps accounted for.
- Relevant qualifications as per JDPS (e.g. GCSEs/NVQ2/Level 2 Diploma or equivalent including Maths and English).
- Strong knowledge of the Care Act (2014) and experience working within social care settings.
- Excellent communication, assessment, and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Office base at Bickerstaffe House, with excellent public transport links and several nearby car parks.
- Hybrid working pattern: 3 days in the office, 2 days working from home.
