The Role As a Social Work Assistant, you will support Social Workers in delivering high-quality services that safeguard and promote the welfare of vulnerable children and young people.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting allocated casework under the guidance of Social Workers and Team Managers.
- Providing practical day-to-day support to children, young people and their families.
- Gathering, recording and analysing information to contribute towards statutory assessments.
- Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children remains at the heart of all interventions.
- Maintaining accurate, timely and evidence-based case records using management information systems.
- Preparing reports and communicating effectively with children, families and partner agencies.
- Working closely with education, health, police and other professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes for children.
- Attending team meetings, reviews and supervision sessions.
- Keeping up to date with safeguarding legislation, policies and best practice.
- Supporting the wider team with additional duties as required to meet the needs of the service.
- Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable families.
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong written skills with experience maintaining accurate records and reports.
- The ability to build positive and professional relationships with children, families and partner agencies.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
- A proactive, compassionate and child-centred approach to supporting vulnerable children.
- Make a genuine difference to the lives of children and families.
- Work alongside experienced Social Workers within a supportive Children's Services team.
- Gain valuable experience within statutory Children's Social Care.
