Service Care Solutions are currently working on behalf of a well-established Housing Association to recruit an experienced Surveyor to join their property team on an initial 6-month temporary contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Building Surveyor or Maintenance Surveyor to play a key role in improving the condition, safety and quality of residential properties across West London.
The RoleAs Surveyor, you will provide professional surveying expertise across a varied housing portfolio. You will be responsible for identifying building defects, investigating complex repair issues and disrepair cases, and developing practical and cost-effective solutions.
You will work closely with internal teams, contractors and external stakeholders to ensure repairs and works are delivered to a high standard, while maintaining a strong focus on customer service and resident wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
You will be confident investigating building defects, diagnosing problems and finding practical solutions. As this role will involve dealing directly with residents, contractors and colleagues, strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out property inspections to investigate complex repairs, building defects and maintenance issues.
- Identify the cause of defects and provide appropriate technical solutions.
- Investigate disrepair cases and produce detailed written housing condition reports.
- Provide technical support in relation to legal claims and disrepair matters.
- Prepare specifications and schedules of works for minor and major repairs.
- Support the delivery and oversight of repair and maintenance works.
- Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, consultants and internal operational teams.
- Obtain and assess quotations for specialist works where required.
- Provide technical advice to support operational and business decisions.
- Carry out inspections in relation to Disabled Facilities Grant works, including progress and post-completion inspections.
- Support planned maintenance programmes by identifying component replacement requirements and future works.
- Provide a high level of customer service when dealing with residents, queries and complaints.
- Ensure works represent good value for money and are delivered to the required quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records and produce high-quality written reports.
You will be confident investigating building defects, diagnosing problems and finding practical solutions. As this role will involve dealing directly with residents, contractors and colleagues, strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Experience within Building Surveying, Property Maintenance or a similar technical property role.
- Experience inspecting residential properties and diagnosing building defects.
- Experience preparing reports, specifications and schedules of works.
- Knowledge of responsive repairs and property maintenance.
- Experience dealing with complex repairs and/or disrepair cases would be highly beneficial.
- Relevant qualification in Building Surveying or a construction-related discipline.
- Minimum HNC/HND level qualification in Building Surveying or equivalent.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of value for money.
- Full driving licence and ability to travel across the required geographical area.
