Switchboard Operator
Location: St Asaph DHQ, Saint Asaph Business Park, St Asaph, LL17 0
Contract: 12 Month Fixed Term
Hours: Variable - 4on / 4 off shift pattern (until midnight)
Pay Rate: £16.25 PAYE per hour / £21.06 LTD per hour (paid weekly via an umbrella company)
Start Date: ASAP (subject to police vetting)

You will provide an efficient and effective switchboard service, ensuring that calls are handled promptly, accurately, and with the highest level of customer care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver an excellent customer service to members of the public.
- Answer and manage incoming calls via the centralised switchboard, filtering and directing them to the correct department or individual.
- Resolve queries at first point of contact wherever possible.
- Operate the switchboard fault reporting system and escalate issues where necessary.
- Support Control Room Operations during major incidents or busy periods.
- Receive, send, and manage data and messages (including emails) using Force systems.
- Adhere to Force policies, including Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, and Data Protection.
- Carry out reception duties when required, including:
- Welcoming authorised visitors and issuing passes.
- Handling and signing for deliveries and postal items.
- Notifying relevant staff of visitor arrivals or deliveries.

Essential Skills & Experience:
- Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent qualification/experience).
- Languages: Ability to communicate fluently in both Welsh and English (Level 2 Welsh required).
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- IT Skills: Competence in Microsoft Office applications and general IT systems.
