Contract: 6 month contract with potential extension

About the Role:
Dorset Police is seeking Alliance Vetting Researchers to join the Professional Standards Department, Vetting Unit. This role involves researching, analysing, and evaluating Force, National and bespoke police databases to support vetting decisions in accordance with the Authorised Professional Practice (APP) for Vetting, Vetting Code of Practice, and the Police Code of Ethics.

About the Role:
Dorset Police is seeking Alliance Vetting Researchers to join the Professional Standards Department, Vetting Unit. This role involves researching, analysing, and evaluating Force, National and bespoke police databases to support vetting decisions in accordance with the Authorised Professional Practice (APP) for Vetting, Vetting Code of Practice, and the Police Code of Ethics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed research on applicants, contractors, and volunteers using national and local police systems.
- Make recommendations on vetting decisions, including low-level negative traces.
- Support recruitment campaigns and vetting projects, including renewals and TUPE transfers.
- Maintain accurate records and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct low-level financial interviews with applicants where necessary.
- Strong research, analytical, and information-gathering skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to navigate other information systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise workloads, work independently, and meet deadlines.
- Meticulous, methodical, and flexible approach.
- Understanding of Data Protection legislation and handling sensitive information with discretion.
- Experience with police systems such as PNC, PND, NICHE/Unifi.
- Experience handling confidential or sensitive information.
- Exeter: Initial 12 weeks office-based training, then minimum 1 day/week in office; expectation may increase up to 50%.
- Dorset: Hybrid, office attendance required on occasions, may increase over time.
