Vitaline are expanding their frontline emergency response team and are now recruiting one Day First Responder and one Night First Responder to support vulnerable adults across Blackpool and designated surrounding areas.
These roles are essential in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of individuals connected to Vitaline’s monitoring and emergency communication services. You will be part of a 24-hour service, providing emergency response, welfare checks, and essential support to people in crisis.

About the Role As a Vitaline First Responder, you will:
- Provide welfare checks, advice, support and reassurance to vulnerable adults.
- Respond to medical and other emergencies in people’s homes, working alongside emergency services.
- Offer personal assistance, including lifting, administering first aid, and supporting people in distress.
- Carry out monitoring duties through assistive technology and personal contact.
- Receive and respond to out-of-hours calls from the public and partner agencies.
- Liaise with internal and external services to ensure effective support.
- Manage accurate handovers between shifts to maintain a seamless 24-hour service.
- Support communication and coordination during Serious Incidents and Major Emergencies.
- Maintain a safe working environment and identify hazards using risk assessment principles.
- Level 2 qualification (GCSE A*-C / 9–4) or willingness to achieve within 6 months
- Full driving licence
- Basic First Aid Certificate or willingness to complete within 6 months
- Moving & Handling training or willingness to complete within 6 months
- Understanding of the needs of vulnerable adults
- Computer literacy and ability to use databases
- Strong communication skills (written, oral & computer-based)
- Ability to work under pressure and manage interruptions
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to build relationships with professionals and service users
- Ability to deal with challenging or aggressive behaviour
- Knowledge of Control Centre services
- Basic MS Office knowledge
- Understanding of Assistive Technology
- Knowledge of procedures to protect vulnerable adults
- Health & Safety awareness
- Ability to enter and extract information from service-specific systems
