Doncaster Council is currently recruiting Waking Night Officers to join their Children’s Residential Homes supporting children and young people with disabilities and complex care needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide stability, safety and reassurance to children and young people who rely on consistent and compassionate care.
This is a part time position for 21 hours per week offering a salary of £28132 Pro Rata with enhanced rates for any over time worked. You will receive your rota well in advance and are guaranteed 2 weekends off out of 4. Opportunities for additional daytime shifts may be offered to support training and integrated working across the home.
Your responsibilities will include:

- Providing a warm, caring and enabling environment
- Discreetly overseeing young people at regular intervals throughout the night
- Ensuring the home remains safe and secure
- Liaising with agencies such as Police and social care if required
- Completing paperwork and maintaining children’s records
- General housekeeping duties including cleaning, laundry and ironing
- Following shift plans and completing allocated tasks
- Working independently, with the support of a sleeping-in colleague
- A caring and sensitive approach to supporting children and young people
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic IT skills
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
- Flexibility to cover additional shifts where required
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare
