The Role
Peterborough City Council is seeking a dedicated Wellbeing Officer to support learners across study programmes and apprenticeships. This is a frontline, office-based role focused on safeguarding, student welfare, and enabling positive outcomes for young people.
You will play a key role in supporting learners aged 14–19 and adults, particularly those facing social, emotional, or behavioural challenges. The position involves close collaboration with internal teams and external agencies to ensure learners receive the right support at the right time.

You will play a key role in supporting learners aged 14–19 and adults, particularly those facing social, emotional, or behavioural challenges. The position involves close collaboration with internal teams and external agencies to ensure learners receive the right support at the right time.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide pastoral and wellbeing support to learners, including those in crisis
- Safeguard children and vulnerable adults, maintaining accurate records and reporting concerns
- Liaise with external agencies (e.g. Early Help, Youth Offending, Social Care)
- Monitor attendance, engagement, and progression, taking appropriate follow-up action
- Support behaviour management and implement early intervention strategies
- Coordinate and attend multi-agency meetings (e.g. Child in Need, PEP reviews)
- Maintain detailed learner records and support logs
- Work closely with tutors to enhance the learner experience and outcomes
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with young people or vulnerable adults
- Has a strong understanding of safeguarding and wellbeing practices
- Can manage challenging behaviour with confidence and empathy
- Is highly organised, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Can work both independently and as part of a team
- Is resilient and able to handle emotionally demanding situations
- Experience supporting learners with social, emotional, or behavioural needs
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and multi-agency working
- Ability to motivate and support individuals to achieve positive outcomes
- Strong administrative and record-keeping skills
- Confident communicator with a proactive, “can-do” approach
