About the Role
We are recruiting a Young Women’s Keyworker to provide specialist, trauma informed one to one support and advocacy to young women aged 15–24 who are involved in or at risk of involvement in the Criminal Justice System.

This role combines community based outreach, probation liaison, and through the gate custody support, working with young women facing complex needs. You will play a key role in building trusted relationships, coordinating multi-agency support, and helping young women move toward safer, crime free lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide in-reach custody support via video, telephone, and face to face, including gate pick ups on release
  • Deliver outreach support and advocacy to young women in the community
  • Complete holistic needs and risk assessments
  • Develop, implement, and regularly review individual support plans
  • Provide consistent emotional and practical support using a trauma informed, non-judgemental approach
  • Attend probation offices and work closely with National Probation Service staff
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with statutory and voluntary agencies
  • Advocate for young women at housing, social services, MARAC, and IOM panels
  • Maintain accurate case records using digital systems and Ministry of Justice portals
  • Support engagement with women’s centres, activities, and peer mentor services
Essential Experience and Skills
  • Significant experience supporting young women affected by offending or at risk of offending
  • Strong understanding of the challenges facing vulnerable young women and girls
  • Experience completing needs and risk assessments and managing risk
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload and work independently, including lone working
  • Strong crisis management and de-escalation skills
  • Excellent communication, engagement, and administrative skills
  • Experience working in partnership with probation and external agencies
Desirable
  • Professional qualification in youth work, social work, criminal justice, or a related field
  • Experience delivering group work
  • Knowledge of trauma informed, gender specific approaches
  • Understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and CSE legislation
