Service Care Solutions are pleased to share the news that the interactive light and sound floor that we bought for The Space Centre in Preston has been installed and is now in use. We handed over a cheque for £5000, all of which went towards purchasing and installing the fantastic floor. Andrea Baker, Fundraiser at the Space Centre , comments, "We are thrilled with the donation Service Care Solutions presented us with and are really pleased with the new floor in Space 1. The team have also been down to help in our garden and did a great job. I know that whenever they can, the company will help, so I hope our relationship continues."

A team of Service Care staff went to the Centre to find out more about how the floor is used and to see it in action (from L-R - Lynsey Walker, Mandy Bibby and Paul Bradley).

The interactive floor is instantly responsive to the most sensitive touch, yet can be jumped on by the heaviest adult or trundled over by people in wheelchairs. A range of games encourage individual and cooperative interaction, each with different levels of difficulties. The floor is designed for use by anyone of any ability, from the most dependent child to the most energetic adult athlete. Spectacular coloured panels light up and give very good notes and sounds just by laying or rolling on them. Some games can challenge the most dexterous and energetic person. The ‘Simon’ game challenges both your dexterity and memory.

Features of the floor include:

  • 8 interactive games and variations 16 different instrument and sound options

  • Volume control

  • Adjustable times for completion of games and difficulty levels

  • Responds to finger tip touch and up to very large adults jumping on it

  • No lamps to replace (ever)

  • Uses LED technology

  • Adjustable background light level

  • Can be installed anywhere

The Space Centre is the largest multi-sensory environment in the UK for anyone with special needs and the light floor is fitted into the mezzanine floor of a huge soft play room fitted with sensory lights, games, ball pool, massage chairs and a giant slide (yes, we did have a go!)

Whilst we were there, we presented a wine and cheese hamper for the charity to raffle off at their Spring Ball (the event raised nearly £6000). Paul Bradley, Chair of the CSR Committee at Service Care Solutions commented, "We are privileged to be located so near to such a worthwhile charity and I was very keen for us to support them as a business. To see the interactive floor up and running is also great and we are pleased that the hamper we donated managed to generate some more funds".
