Building Surveyor

A Housing Association based in North Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a Building Surveyor to join their Surveying Services team as soon as possible.

This is a full time, fixed term position for approximately 11 months and the ideal candidate will have a HNC/HND level technical qualification in building surveying as a minimum.

The purpose of the role is to undertake a variety of building surveys, inspections and audits to the organisation's stock and assets, including new build projects. Responsible for the effective diagnosis, recording and monitoring of works in relation to structural movement/failure.

You will be expected to deliver a comprehensive technical surveying function, incorporating inspection, defect diagnosis, preparation of specification of works, major structural repairs through to completion, damp and mould, adaptations, customer-led alterations and emergency activities i.e., fire, flood and collision (such as vehicular impact) etc. to maximise effectiveness, customer satisfaction and financial performance.

Requirements:

You will be highly motivated building surveyor with sound knowledge of building construction, CDM, health and safety, planning and building regulations. You'll also have substantial technical surveying experience with a wide range of building ages and construction types, be excellent at managing workload, possess exceptional internal / external communication skills and be capable of building and developing strong relationships.

Whilst a property related degree and member of the RICS/CIOB would be preferred, you will have a HNC/HND level technical qualification in building surveying as a minimum.

You will have the initiative to hit the ground running. The work pace is fast, and a methodical approach and strong problem-solving skills are essential to maximise effectiveness in the role.
