Our client based in North London are currently recruiting for a Commercial and Procurement Manager to join their building safety, decency and compliance programme.
This is a full time, temporary position working within the Public Sector and the appointed candidate will also be expected to manage negotiations and contractual disputes on behalf of the council, reporting outcomes and impacts on governance, budgetary and contractual positions to the Head of Contract Delivery.
The purpose of the role is to support the delivery of the Council's high-profile building safety, decency and compliance programmes investing in existing homes to a value of circa £50m-£60m per annum.
Responsibilities:
You must be an experienced procurement and commercial manager with an extensive knowledge of services and construction contracts. In this role you will be required to work closely with both internal stakeholders and external organisations. You will be required to have extensive experience in negotiating and drafting construction works and services contracts. Experience of delivering procurements within public sector procurement governance structures is integral to this role, as well as experience in working with a specialist team to develop specifications and other contract documents. The successful candidate should be able to review contract models and be able to advise project teams of the options available to them.
This role involves an in-depth knowledge of contract management and delivering works within the budgetary constraints ensuring value for money and ensuring the Council's resources are maximised and residents benefit from improved services and social value investment alike. The appointed candidate will also be expected to manage negotiations and contractual disputes on behalf of the council, reporting outcomes and impacts on governance, budgetary and contractual positions to the Head of Contract Delivery.
Requirements:
- Significant experience of procurement within the public sector and in line with relevant legislation.
- Chartered membership of a relevant professional body - (Experienced candidates, working towards chartered status will be considered.)
- Significant experience in a similar role
- Extensive knowledge of contract forms; collateral warranties and other forms of securities
- Experiencing of tendering contracts including preparation of contract documentation, evaluation of tenders and report production and knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation.
- Extensive experience of implementing and operating within financial governance frameworks
If interested, our client is looking to move quickly and are therefore offering £446 per day.
This role is inside IR35 and therefore Day Rate is applicable as an Umbrella Rate.
