Commissioning Officer

Commissioning Officer needed with Dorset Council

Start Date- ASAP

Location - Dorchester (hybrid)

Duration - Initially 3 months

Hours per week - 37 hours per week

Salary - £18 ltd an hour

Description:

  • To take the lead role in the development and implementation of commissioning strategies and plans
  • Ensure that available funding is used to maximum effect by developing and commissioning services which meet clearly identified needs and which achieve agreed outcomes
  • Ensure that the commissioning of services in allocated areas of responsibility follows a recognised commissioning cycle on behalf of adults and communities within Dorset
  • To undertake needs and impact assessments which involve service users, adult care operational staff and wider partners
  • To design and deliver pathways that turn commissioning intentions into positive outcomes for individuals

What is required?

  • Degree level or equivalent qualification in relevant area or significant commissioning experience in relevant area
  • Substantial experience of working in a health, support or social care setting or allied field
  • Experience in negotiation
  • Experience of using data, information and intelligence to inform assessment, planning and performance reviews
  • Experience of managing contracts and tendering processes
