Deputy Head of Finance Salary: £57,000 per annum
Contract: 1 Year Interim
Location: Hybrid – Minimum two days per week at:

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (occasional evenings and weekends as required)

Pact is seeking a skilled and motivated Deputy Head of Finance to join our mission-driven team. This is a pivotal role where you'll help shape and deliver a high-performing finance function, aligned with our values and focused on delivering exceptional service.

Key Purpose of the Role
  • Lead and manage the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate monthly payroll.

  • Drive efficiencies and improvements in payroll operations in partnership with the Director of Finance & IT.

  • Produce first-draft monthly management accounts, with supporting reconciliations.

  • Maintain and forecast cashflow to support financial planning.

  • Manage and support a small finance team (Finance Officer & Finance Assistant), fostering development and strong performance.

  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Finance to ensure budget holders receive timely, accurate financial reporting.

About You You are a confident finance leader with a strong background in payroll, financial reporting, and team management. You are organised, process-focused, and bring a solutions mindset to your work. Essential Experience & Skills
  • Proven payroll experience in a complex, fast-moving environment.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with finance systems (Sage Intacct desirable).

  • Strong reconciliation and reporting skills.

  • Experience working closely with HR and other internal stakeholders.

  • Staff management experience.

  • Strong communication and analytical skills.

Desirable:

  • Working knowledge of Cascade, IRIS, or similar systems.

  • Payroll qualification and/or ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification (or working towards).
