Evidence Purge Assistant

Service Care Solutions are recruiting for a Evidence Purge Assistant to work for a Police Force in Reading on a fulltime long term basis, please see below for more information

Location: Reading

Pay Rate: Up to £14 per hour

Key Accountability Areas:

  1. Dispose of property following the current Evidence Management policy and procedures, ensuring compliance with manual handling regulations and conducting thorough property searches.

  2. Update and maintain records, issue documents (e.g., transfer sheets), and ensure adherence to audit requirements.

  3. Handle telephone and personal enquiries promptly, taking necessary actions to maintain departmental service levels.

  4. Collect evidence from other locations in the force using the provided van when required, supporting local Evidence Management Units (EMUs).

  5. Maintain an efficient storage system, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety and COSHH regulations.

Additional Comments: Undertake required training to enhance personal skills and knowledge. The role is physically demanding, requiring work in areas affected by the climate.

Dimensions: The post holder will dispose of and document a high volume of property, typically 500 items per week. The role may involve lone working during times of leave, requiring double-checking of submitted property to ensure it meets purge criteria.

Characteristics of the Role:

Expertise (E/D):

  1. Good standard of education to GCSE or equivalent level, excellent literacy and numeracy skills, and proven communication skills at all levels.
  2. Good attention to detail and listening skills.
  3. Proven ability to work to deadlines and manage a substantial workload.
  4. Ability to solve problems with minimum supervision.
  5. Willingness to undertake Manual Handling training.
  6. IT literate with experience in MS Applications and a willingness to learn new technology, databases, and systems.
  7. Capability to travel across the Force, work evenings and weekends, and possess a full UK driving license.
  8. Experience with Niche and Command and Control systems (Desirable).
