About the Job

A Family Lawyer is urgently needed for two Local Authorities in the Greater Manchester Area. The successful candidate will be expected to do their own advocacy and attend family court in Manchester. The role is on-going for 4 months and will be on a hybrid basis.

Job Requirements

  • The ideal candidate must have proven experience as a Family Lawyer within a private or public background.
  • Experience in local government is an advantage.
  • Must be able to do own advocacy.
  • Must be able to attend family court in Manchester.

Role responsibilities:

  • To advise Council, Executive, Committees, Officers and Departments of the Council on legal matters primarily, but not exclusively, relating to all areas of Social Services and Education including attendance at evening meetings as required.
  • Advocacy in contested and uncontested hearings in Court and when necessary instruction of Counsel at the Family Court, including the preparation and management of cases.
  • Drafting and settling of legal documentation with particular reference to Children's Social Care and Education matters.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate must have a Law degree from a recognised institution.
  • Must be a qualified solicitor.
  • Must be registered with the Law Society of England and Wales.
