About the Role Reading Borough Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Family Practitioner to join our Children’s Single Point of Access (C-SPA) team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the "front door" of Early Help, where you will support the triage and allocation of early intervention support for children and families.

You will play a key role in identifying appropriate community support, enabling children and families to thrive without the need for statutory social work involvement. Key Responsibilities
  • Triage Early Help referrals and assess family needs in partnership with internal and external stakeholders

  • Identify appropriate support and community-based interventions for families

  • Promote and support partner agencies in taking on the Lead Professional role

  • Ensure that children and families receive proportionate, timely, and effective support

  • Contribute to the development of an inclusive, informed and collaborative Early Help offer

Requirements
  • A professional qualification in health, social care and/or education

  • An ethical, child-centred value base aligned with public service principles

  • Knowledge of protective and risk factors affecting children and young people

  • Understanding of contextual safeguarding and how it applies in community-based work

  • Experience working with children and young people in a variety of settings (paid or voluntary)

  • Experience working directly with families, parents, and carers

This is an ideal role for a confident and skilled practitioner who is passionate about early intervention, multi-agency working, and helping families access the right support at the right time.
