Service Care Legal are currently recruiting on behalf of a London Borough Council who are seeking a Governance Lawyer to join their team on a contract basis. Please find below further details with regards to this position.

ROLE: Governance Lawyer
LOCATION: London
RATE: £45.00 to £48.00 per hour
CONTRACT: Initial 4 months (with possibility of extension)

Please note that this role would be hybrid working (2 or 3 days per week in the office).

The Role

• To deal with complex high value and/or sensitive litigation cases and managing risk, including areas such as governance, freedom of information and GDPR
• To advise the Monitoring Officer and the Deputy Monitoring Officers on a range of governance issues
• To keep up and advise to stakeholder with regards to ever-changing legislation

The Person

• A qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or Barrister with relevant governance law experience
• Extensive knowledge of public law principles and local government decision making would be essential fore this position
• Previous public sector experience for this position would be essential
