Job Description

A Local Authority based in London is looking for a Head of Finance (Capital & Commercial) to join their team. The post holder will be the main finance lead on 6-8 major capital projects - negotiation with developers/contractors, understanding complex financial models, controlling project spend (with support of the accounting team), presentation to the various project boards and main face off to the Programme directors and Director of Capital Delivery. They will have the ability to understand commercial proposals, become the management accounting lead for all capital projects and understand and explore traditional, as well as innovative, funding models including principles of PWLB/bonds/loans etc and using this knowledge to upskill the Finance department

Ideal Candidate

Fully qualified Accountant (CCAB + CIMA) or other relevant professional qualification
Local Authority/Government finance background essential
Experience of working under pressure and maintaining high level relationships with senior officers
Experience of Commercial and Capital finance
Experience of providing key advice and suggestions to Executive Directors and Heads of Service
