Job Description

A Local Authority based in Leeds is looking for a Head of Finance to join their team on an initial 9-12 months FTC. The post holder will take a leading role in developing the financial strategy and managing the £500m pa budget, working with the mayor and the senior team to ensure spending delivers the best outcomes. Reporting into the Director, Corporate and Commercial Services, and as Deputy s73 Officer, the post holder will provide the financial leadership to develop and deliver the medium-term financial strategy.

Ideal Candidate

  • Extensive experience of successfully managing large scale and complex budgets in the public sector.
  • Proven organisational and strategic leadership skills.
  • Experience of advising and supporting a range of stakeholders including Members, government and partner organisations.
  • Well-developed accounting and financial skills, supported by membership of a CCAB / CIMA qualified body
