Health and Safety Advisor 

Job Description

A client within the Public Sector based in Rotherham is currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Advisor (Training) to join their Health and Safety team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a compliance and training environment.

The Role
Key purpose of the role is to provide competent and professional support across the council in delivering health and safety training and development, with a specific focus on addressing backlog areas such as manual handling, risk assessments, incident investigations, and fire safety. The post holder will lead a robust training needs analysis and support a blended training delivery approach across the authority.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Designing and delivering tailored training packages, including accredited and in-house courses
• Leading training needs analysis aligned with legal and business requirements
• Supporting face-to-face and computer-based training (CBT), including outsourced elements
• Advising and guiding services on training obligations and compliance standards
• Developing and updating training content to reflect changes in legislation and practice
• Conducting audits and inspections and implementing safety training measures where gaps are identified
• Promoting a positive health and safety culture across the Council

The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will require:
• A Level 6 or Level 7 qualification (e.g., degree or postgraduate diploma) in a relevant field or equivalent knowledge through work experience
• Substantial experience delivering competent health and safety training across diverse teams
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• NEBOSH National General Certificate (or equivalent)
• NEBOSH Fire Safety, Construction or equivalent sectoral training
• A recognised training qualification such as AET, PTLLS, or equivalent
• Experience conducting audits and inspections in line with regulatory standards
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across varied disciplines

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such is offering £23 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £19 per hour PAYE).
