Health and Safety Officer

Job Description

A client within the public sector in London Borough of Southwark is currently recruiting for a Internal Health and Safety Officer to join their team as soon as possible.

This is a full time, temporary contract with the ideal candidate having experience working with the public sector and ideally holding a NEBOSH Certificate.

The purpose of the role is to assist the Principal Health and Safety Advisers in providing a full range of health and safety advice to all parts of the corporation in a timely and effective manner, attending meetings and site visits as and when necessary.

The main responsibilities of the role:

  • To carry out thorough health and safety inspections of the corporations workplaces to ensure compliance with legislation and with internal procedures; and, to advise local managers where improvements are necessary.
  • To produce detailed reports resulting from workplace inspections.
  • To assist Principal Health and Safety Advisers in undertaking and reviewing risk assessment on a range of work activities.
  • To assist Principal Health and Safety Advisers on the investigation of accidents when required and/or to assist others with investigations.
  • To deputise for Principal Health and Safety Advisers as and when required

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £24 p/hour Umbrella Ltd (approx. £600 p/week NET after deductions).
