Deputy Solicitor - Hospital Inquiry
Job Summary
A great opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Inquiry Solicitor to join this Scottish Hospital Inquiry legal team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the Inquiry legal team, working closely with the Solicitor in investigating the evidence, identifying witnesses, managing the hearings and ultimately producing the report. This is a 12-month+ contract and can be done on a hybrid working basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruitment and management of any assistant solicitors that the Inquiry may require, the team obtaining witness statements and other legal team members
- As part of the leadership team, responsibility for creating a positive environment that supports diversity and equality and promotes health and well being
- Provision of general legal advice to the Chair and the Inquiry team with particular regard to the application of the Inquiries Act 2005 and the Inquiries (Scotland) Rules 2007, and data handling (including data protection issues)
- Liaison with the solicitors representing the core participants
- Drafting the Inquiry's procedure/protocol documents, and monitoring and ensuring compliance with them
Requirements
- Scottish or English Qualified benefit of year's PQE
- Experience in Dispute, Litigation or Project Background
- Substantial attention to detail and co-ordination
- Ability to work on a hybrid basis - either from the Edinburgh or Glasgow office (attendance depends on stage of inquiry)
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
