Job Title – Housing Officer
Location – Portsmouth / Havant
Contract – Temporary (Ongoing)
Hours – Full-time, 37 hours per week
Role summary –
We are currently recruiting for a dedicated Housing Officer to join a local authority team in Portsmouth and Havant. This is a fantastic opportunity to work for the largest social landlord in the area, responsible for managing over 17,000 council and leasehold properties. You will play a key role in helping tenants sustain their tenancies, promoting responsible tenancy behaviour, and ensuring excellent customer service.
Salary –
LTD: £22 per hour
PAYE: £18.12 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support tenants in sustaining tenancies in line with their tenancy agreements
  • Provide income and budgeting advice, and signposting where appropriate
  • Address anti-social behaviour and support vulnerable tenants through multi-agency working
  • Provide guidance on home maintenance and garden upkeep
  • Take proportionate and necessary tenancy enforcement action
  • Maintain clear and accurate records and produce documentation for case conferences or legal proceedings
  • Attend court hearings and multi-agency meetings representing the council
Requirements:
  • Experience working with tenants in a front-line housing or support service
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with vulnerable individuals
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload under pressure
  • Comfortable with lone working and home visits
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and case management systems
  • Experience preparing written correspondence and presenting cases in court
  • A driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable due to patch-based work across various offices
