Information Governance & Records Management Officer

Service Care Legal are working alongside a London Borough Council who are seeking an Information Governance Officer to join their team on a contract basis. Please find below further details about the role and the person required.

ROLE: Information Governance & Records Management Officer
LOCATION: London
RATE: £22.54 to £28.06 per hour
CONTRACT: 6 months (potentially ongoing), 37 hours per week

The Role

  • To develop and implement and manage ISO 15489 compliant Records Management system in support of the corporate electronic document and records management system
  • Effective management of Information Governance matters, FOI requests and Data Protection SAR's within statutory timescales
  • To work with senior managers and staff to develop Information Governance statistics, policies and procedures in line with legislation and best practice
  • Tarry out investigations into complaints, incidents and breaches relating to the Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR and other Information Governance legislation
  • To manage / supervise up to 3 officers in the Information Governance department

The Person

  • Significant experience of records management / information management especially in the Public Sector
  • Experienced in handling and clarifying large amounts of information in an internal and external customer-facing environment
  • Strong knowledge of the Data Protection Act 1998 and a good understanding of the Freedom of Information Act 2000
  • To have the BCS / ISEB / IAPP Certificate in Data Protection or equivalent qualification would be advantageous.
