Leaving Care Personal Advisor

Do you have a passion for supporting young people and a desire to make a real impact?

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Leaving Care Personal Advisor to join Birmingham Children's Trust and help young people in care transition successfully to adulthood.


Contract: 3-months plus ongoing

Pay: £15.49 an hour

Hours: Full-time, Mon-Fri

Location: Birmingham Children's Trust, 1 Avenue Rd, Aston, Birmingham, B6 4DU


About the Role:

In this crucial role, you'll play a vital part in ensuring young people leaving care receive the support they need to thrive independently. You'll work closely with young people aged 18-25, developing personalized plans that address their individual needs and goals.


What You'll Do:

  • Assess young people's needs and develop pathway plans to support their transition to adulthood.
  • Provide ongoing guidance and support on areas like housing, education, employment, and finances.
  • Advocate for young people's rights and ensure they receive their entitled services.
  • Collaborate with social workers, carers, and other professionals to create a comprehensive support network.
  • Maintain accurate case records and participate in service monitoring and evaluation.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and practices for aftercare services.

Requirements:

  • Substantial experience of working with children and young people up to the age of 21 and 25 if they are in higher education in a voluntary or Professional setting.
  • Experience working with young people in care or care leavers.
  • Experience of interagency work with young people who are vulnerable, at risk, homeless or have been in care.
  • Experience of being responsible for directly assisting young people (caseload responsibility)
  • Have worked successfully in achieving outcomes for Young People under supervision.
  • A passion for social justice and a desire to empower young people.
