Bury Council is looking for a dedicated and motivated Personal Adviser to join our Social Care and Safeguarding team. In this rewarding role, you’ll work directly with children in care and care leavers, supporting them to achieve positive outcomes and make a successful transition into adulthood.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of care and pathway plans
- Provide practical and emotional support to children, young people, and their families
- Help prepare young people for independence and adulthood
- Promote education, training, employment, and housing opportunities
- Maintain regular contact and act as a key point of support for care leavers
- Advocate for young people and support their participation in decision-making
- Contribute to assessments, reviews, and multi-agency planning
- NVQ Level 3 in Childcare (or equivalent)
- Significant experience working with children and/or adolescents in a professional capacity
- Knowledge of child development and safeguarding issues
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective, supportive relationships
- Understanding of equal opportunities and anti-oppressive practice
- Ability to work flexibly, including some evenings
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle (car user allowance payable)
