Service Care Legal are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in the Hampshire region who are seeking a Legal Assistant to join their Housing Litigation team on a contract basis. Please find below further details about the role and the assignments.
ROLE: Housing Litigation Legal Assistant
LOCATION: Hampshire
RATE: £17.40 to £22.00 per hour
CONTRACT: 6 months
The Role
- To assist the Lawyers and the Senior Lawyers in progressing full caseloads in relation to Housing Litigation matters
- The majority of the caseloads will be related to disrepair claims but may also include matters such as possessions, homelessness and ASBO
- To prepare and compile documents, proceedings, case files and advice notes for court hearings
- To undertake such other duties as may be allocated from time to time by the Senior Solicitor, Head of Legal or Service Director.
The Person
- Previous Legal Assistant or Paralegal experience within a Litigation or Housing teams would be essential for this position
- Previous experience of working within a local authority would be highly beneficial but not essential
- A legal academic background (e.g. LPC, LLM or LLB) or relevant working experience would be essential
- Strong IT and computer literacy is essential
