Legal Assistant - Residential Conveyancing

Service Care Legal are currently recruiting on behalf of a London Borough Council in South West London for a dedicated Legal Assistant to join their legal services team on an ongoing contract basis. The role would focus upon residential conveyancing transactions.
 
Job Title:             Legal Assistant – Residential Conveyancing
Location:             South West London (London Borough Council)
Contract:             3 month with possibility of extension, 35 hours per week
Rate:                     £18.00 to £20.00ph LTD DOE and interview performance
(£18.04ph PAYE inc., £16.10ph PAYE exc.)

Please note that this role would require office attendance 2 days per week.
 
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Support the legal team in managing residential conveyancing matters through to completion.
  • Handle a variety of residential transactions and assist with complex local authority land matters.
  • Prepare and review legal documentation, conduct research, liaise with internal departments and external parties, and ensure the timely progression of files.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, procedures, and council protocols.
Essential Requirements: 
  • A law-related qualification (LPC / LLM / LLB) would be essential for this role.
  • Proven experience in residential conveyancing, ideally within a local authority setting.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage a busy caseload and work under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • A self-motivated, adaptable team player with excellent communication and organisational skills.
