Property Solicitor

Service Care Legal are recruiting for a Junior Solicitor to join a respected Local Authority Legal Services team on a 3-month rolling contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your legal expertise within the public sector, supporting a dynamic and collaborative in-house legal team. You'll manage your own caseload, providing legal support on a range of general and residential property matters. Working alongside senior solicitors and internal clients, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality, compliant, and efficient legal services across two London councils.
 
ROLE:                  Junior Property Solicitor
LOCATION:         West London
RATE:                   £38ph umbrella / £3.68ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / £30.05ph PAYE Exc. Holiday pay
CONTRACT:        3 months ongoing, 36 hours per week


Please note that this role would require office attendance 2 days per week.


Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Advise and draft on residential and general property transactions
  • Handle lease extensions, right to buys, title reviews, and land registry requisitions
  • Support the acquisition and disposal of council-owned property
  • Negotiate legal terms with external parties and advise stakeholders
  • Maintain Lexcel-compliant records and casework
  • Stay updated on legal changes and support continuous improvement
  • Liaise with external counsel and legal suppliers when needed
 
Requirements:
 
  • UK-qualified solicitor (1–3 years PQE)
  • Solid experience in property law (residential and/or general)
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and client advisory skills
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of local authority or public sector work (desirable)
  • Familiarity with SDLT, asset transfers, and legal aspects of subsidy control (advantageous)
