A client within the Public Sector based in the East Midlands is currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join their Housing Asset Management Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a housing maintenance and refurbishment environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to focus on post-inspection checks of works completed for the council by contractors, ensuring they meet required standards. They will also manage any work that does not meet expectations, and provide feedback and assurance around the payment validation process to ensure payments are only made for completed and compliant works.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Assisting in the coordination and management of cost control and procedures for housing stock repairs and investment works.
• Producing and maintaining accurate financial information in compliance with the Council’s standing orders.
• Ensuring cost control measures and adherence to budgets for external and internal contracts.
• Building and maintaining effective working relationships with contractors, stakeholders, and customers.
• Assisting in contract procurement and providing support during disputes.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• A Quantity Surveying qualification or equivalent at HNC level or above.
• Previous experience supporting a contract management team in housing refurbishment, maintenance, or the construction industry.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Strong understanding of budget management, financial reporting, and contractor valuation.
• Experience in commercially managing planned and responsive maintenance contracts.
• Knowledge of procurement, contract negotiation, and OJEU processes.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering up to £35 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £28 per hour PAYE).
