Salary: £15.98 per hour (Umbrella)
Role Overview: Derby City Council is seeking a compassionate and experienced Residential Child Care Worker to provide high-quality, person-centred care for children and young people in a residential setting. The role focuses on supporting children’s emotional, social, and developmental needs while ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct care and day-to-day support to children in residential care
- Implement and follow individual care plans tailored to each child’s needs
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for children and young people
- Support children with daily routines, education, and personal development
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of observations, incidents, and progress
- Understanding of the physical, emotional, and social development of young people
- Experience working with disabled children, including those with autism and learning disabilities
- Proven ability to work effectively with groups of young people in a paid capacity
- Knowledge of alternative communication methods such as Makaton and PECS
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport
