- As a Residential Child Care Worker, you would work from a children's home where children and young people aged between 11 years and 17 years live.
- Residential Child Care Workers eat and sleep at the home with the children and young people and undertake basic household tasks - cleaning, cooking, shopping.
- Our children are not able to live safely with their parent(s) or family and this is usually due to adverse childhood experience and trauma.
- Residential Child Care Workers listen and engage our children in 1:1 work around feelings, emotions and behaviours and link with other professionals, such as social workers, schools, police, and health workers to ensure our children's needs are met.
- To provide child centred support and / or care to children in a team setting as directed by the Registered Manager.
- To contribute to ensuring that the care and support provided to children and is of the highest quality in a setting which encourages positive experiences and outcomes.
- To safeguard and promote the well-being of the children in the home or supported accommodation
What is required?
- NVQ level 3 in care of children & young people or a diploma in social care or a willingness to complete NVQ 3 within 12 months of employment.
- Proven literacy skills in order to complete good quality and effective computerised care plans, reports for young people placed in home.
- Enhanced DBS.
- First Aid, Medication Lvl 2, certificates.
- Car driver.
- Experience in safeguarding children.
