SEN Manager needed with West Berkshire Council
Start Date- ASAP
Location - Newbury
Duration - Initially 3 months
Hours per week - 37 hours per week across 4 days
Salary - £60ltd per hour
In the role you will be managing a caseload and will therefore need a good working knowledge of SEN including a thorough understanding of the relevant legislation. This is a full time position working across 4 days on a hybrid working basis.
Description:
- As a case working manager you will ensure the formal process of assessment, EHC plans, placement and review is carried out efficiently, consistently and in line with the Children's and family Act 2014 and Code of Practice (including meeting the prescribed timescales), for SEN pupils in your phase.
- As an SEN manager you will take part in the development of processes for Education, Health and Care Assessments and Plans in line with the Children and Families legislation and to be involved as appropriate in implementation.
- SEN managers oversee casework of young people in your age group and undertake management of individual cases, including meetings and reviews as appropriate. To meet with parents and their representatives as necessary to discuss issues relating to statutory assessment and provision for EHCP pupils.
- SEN managers are required to act as lead officer in representing the Authority at SEN Tribunal in cases where agreement cannot be reached on provision / placement. Ensuring a high standard of presentation of the LA's case at hearings, including preparation of witnesses etc. Ensuring that Tribunal data is recorded, and cases are progressed according to the prescribed timescales.
What is required?
- Education to degree level or equivalent
- Professional qualification in Education
- Successful management experience in a school or further education provider
- Experience of leading inter-agency working and working with parents, heads, SENCOs and other professionals in an SEN context
