Job Description:

A Local Authority in London is looking for a Senior Lead Officer on a temporary 3 month contract to join the team. The duties and responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate the work of multiple teams internal and external to the Council to plan and commission new schools and school expansions.
  • Work with the Local Development and Planning teams and Legal teams within the school to maximise the potential for financial contributions toward new education and childcare provision
  • Undertake an annual review of the School Places Plan including timely member approval
  • Lead on the development of an effective capital investment strategy in support of the Councils statutory duties for education including sufficiency and accessibility of schools places
  • Bring forward recommendations, in response to opportunities for capital investment in schools, projects which will address suitability and sufficiency

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Significant strategic, operational and management experience.
  • Relevant professional qualification, degree or equivalent specialist qualification and management qualification
  • Experience of strategic planning and leading development of strategy
  • Good understanding of Children's Services/schools/early years and childcare
  • Knowledge and experience of Local Authority legislation and policies
