Job Title: Service Manager (Repairs & Maintenance)
Location: Southwark / SE London – Site-Based with Hybrid Flexibility
Contract: Ongoing Temporary Contract
Pay Rate: £34 PAYE – £40 per hour (Umbrella LTD)
Start Date: ASAP

About the Role: We’re recruiting for two experienced Service Managers / Repairs Supervisors to join the Housing Asset Management Team of a busy Central London borough. These roles will be responsible for leading and managing all reactive repairs and maintenance works across a designated geographical area.
Each Service Manager will oversee 12–15 operatives, ensuring day-to-day and void works are delivered efficiently, to a high standard, and with a focus on resident satisfaction and value for money.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the delivery of repairs and maintenance within your patch, managing a team of in-house operatives and external contractors
  • Ensure works are completed on time and to the required standard through regular monitoring, support, and supervision
  • Engage closely with planners, complaints teams, managers, and residents to resolve issues quickly and effectively
  • Maintain high health and safety standards across all works, ensuring Fire Safety and CDM compliance
  • Monitor performance, set individual and team targets, and support training and development
  • Handle complex complaints, respond to enquiries, and provide detailed reports to senior leadership
  • Support continuous improvement and identify ways to deliver better, faster, and more cost-effective services
What We’re Looking For:
  • Extensive experience managing a repairs service or responsive maintenance team
  • Proven background managing operatives, contractors, and performance outcomes in a housing environment
  • Ability to lead by example, motivate teams, and resolve complex housing issues
  • Strong working knowledge of H&S legislation, Building Regulations, Fire Safety standards, and landlord obligations
  • HNC or equivalent in Building Studies (or comparable experience)
  • Strong communication, organisational, and IT skills
  • Comfortable managing a fast-paced and high-demand caseload across a large geographical patch
