Are you passionate about safeguarding adults and promoting high standards of care across health and social care services?

South Gloucestershire Council is seeking a Social Care Practitioner to join our Adult Strategic Safeguarding Team based in Yate. This is a crucial role contributing to multi-agency efforts to promote good safeguarding practice and investigate concerns across care providers in the region.

About the Team: The Adult Strategic Safeguarding Team is part of the Commissioning, Performance and Housing Division within the Department of People. The team leads on all strategic safeguarding matters relating to adults, working closely with health, police, and other partners under the governance of the Local Safeguarding Adults Board (LSAB).

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Supporting the monitoring and review of safeguarding concerns related to adult service providers.

  • Building effective relationships with care providers, the council’s operational teams, commissioning, contracts, and regulatory bodies.

  • Participating in organisational safeguarding meetings, site visits, and quality assurance work, with support from Senior Practitioners or Team Managers.

  • Writing detailed reports, maintaining accurate records, and using electronic case management systems to log and track safeguarding issues.

  • Acting as a point of contact for advice and guidance on safeguarding concerns.

  • Gathering and incorporating feedback from service users and families, ensuring their voice is central to quality assurance and decision-making.

  • Occasionally meeting with residents, including those who may display challenging behaviour, in residential or supported living settings.

What We’re Looking For:
  • A strong understanding of adult safeguarding legislation, multi-agency safeguarding procedures, and good practice standards.

  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.

  • Experience of working in or alongside adult social care services.

  • Confidence to carry out site visits and engage constructively with providers and residents.

  • Familiarity with electronic care systems and the ability to maintain detailed case records.

  • Ability to work independently and escalate complex issues appropriately.

Working Arrangements: This is a hybrid role, predominantly home-based. You will need to attend the Yate office occasionally and undertake visits to providers and service users in the community. Candidates based locally are preferred.

Apply Now: This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a forward-thinking team committed to promoting high standards and safeguarding vulnerable adults across South Gloucestershire.
