We are currently recruiting for a Social Work Assistant to join the Children and Family Services team in Stoke-on-Trent.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children, young people and their families by supporting qualified social workers and delivering meaningful, direct support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of high-quality social work across a range of teams including Children’s Support and Safeguarding, Children with Disabilities, Fostering and Adoption, and more.
- Undertake direct work with children and families, including life story work, parenting support, and supervision of contact.
- Manage a range of statutory and non-statutory responsibilities including holding Child in Need (Section 17), Supervision Order and Special Guardianship Order cases.
- Coordinate and chair Child in Need meetings, support assessments, and maintain accurate case recordings.
- Work closely with families, carers and professionals to achieve the best outcomes for children.
- Experience of direct work with children and families.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and relevant child protection legislation.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- A Level 3 Diploma in Children & Young People’s Work or similar, or a willingness to work towards this.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a supportive and collaborative team.
