Herefordshire Council is looking for an experienced and motivated Duty and Assessment Social Worker to join our Children & Young People's Services. In this fast-paced role, you will be at the frontline of safeguarding, conducting initial assessments of children and families who come into contact with our service. You will play a critical role in identifying risks, making quick decisions, and ensuring that children are protected. Responsibilities:
- Initial Assessments: Conduct thorough and timely assessments of children and families, identifying risks and needs to ensure immediate protection where necessary.
- Safeguarding: Act quickly in safeguarding cases, making informed decisions to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
- Crisis Intervention: Respond to emergency situations and referrals, providing immediate support and intervention for families in crisis.
- Multi-Agency Working: Collaborate with professionals from health, education, and other agencies to gather information and coordinate support for children and families.
- Case Management: Manage a varied caseload, prioritising high-risk cases and ensuring that all assessments and interventions comply with statutory requirements.
- Referrals: Make informed recommendations for ongoing support, intervention, or escalation to child protection services where necessary.
Requirements:
- Holds a degree in Social Work and is registered with Social Work England.
- Has experience in duty and assessment or a similar safeguarding role.
- Demonstrates strong assessment and decision-making skills, particularly in high-pressure situations.
- Has excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Enhanced DBS.
- Access to own car.
