Job Opportunity: Social Worker – Youth Justice
Location: Lord Street Resource Centre, St Helens, WA10 2SP
Contract: Temporary (4th Aug 2025 – 24th Oct 2025)
Hours: 37 per week | Inside IR35
Pay Rate:
  • PAYE: £29.58 per hour
  • Umbrella: £38.75 per hour

Lewis Ashcroft at Service Care Solutions is supporting St Helens Metropolitan Borough Council in the recruitment of a skilled Youth Justice Social Worker. This is a crucial frontline role working directly with children and young people at risk of offending, helping them turn their lives around.
🧭 Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete high-quality assessments and court/out-of-court reports.
  • Deliver meaningful interventions using Child First principles.
  • Hold a personal caseload and ensure all work is completed within timescales.
  • Accurately maintain case notes and records using relevant systems.
  • Represent the service at Youth Magistrates and Crown Courts when required.
  • Work flexibly between the office, homes, and community settings, including occasional time at Liverpool Magistrates Court.
✅ Requirements:
  • Youth Justice experience is essential – must be able to hit the ground running.
  • Must hold one of the following:
    • Qualified Social Worker (with SWE registration)
    • Qualified Probation Officer (NPS)
    • Experienced Youth Justice Worker with PCEP
  • Confident in assessment, intervention delivery, and multi-agency working.
  • Committed to safeguarding and improving outcomes for vulnerable children.

  • Some hybrid working available, but regular office and community-based work is expected.
