Key Responsibilities: As a key member of the legal team, you will:
- Lead on drafting secondary legislation for council tax and non-domestic rates, involving financial regulations worth millions of pounds.
- Act as a solicitor on the Community Wealth Building (Scotland) Bill, supporting Ministers during its Parliamentary passage following its March 2025 introduction.
- Advise policy colleagues on the Scottish implications of the UK Employment Rights Bill.
- Provide timely and effective legal advice on a range of public law issues, including legislative competence, statutory interpretation, and grant frameworks.
- Strong legal skills in public or constitutional law (or equivalent transferable experience).
- Scottish qualified Solicitor
- Excellent legal analysis skills, considering complex data and statutory frameworks.
- Ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders across government.
- Strong organisational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic policy environment.
- Hybrid working: Flexible working arrangements available.
- Contract duration: Until 31st March 2026.
