Job Description
Service Care Finance are currently recruiting for a Strategic Finance Business Partner on behalf of a Local Authority in London on a temporary basis. The postholder will support the Head of Financial Planning & Business Partnering to lead and coordinate medium term financial planning and will advise senior budget holders to manage financial risk and protect the financial health of the authority.

There are up to 5 direct reports into this position.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of the Medium-Term Financial Plan and take responsibility for ensuring the MTFP is underpinned by robust and accurate working papers
  • Lead and co-ordinate the creation of detailed budget estimates ensuring these are implemented at year-end and aligned to the published MTFP
  • Co-ordinate the completion of statutory returns or ad hoc requests for information relating to Financial Planning or Budgets
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external, taking a proactive role in relevant professional networks and information forums

Candidate Criteria

  • Must be a CIPFA/CCAB Qualified Accountant or Equivalent
  • Extensive experience in Local Authority/Government finance is essential
  • Experience of providing advice and challenge to budget holder, manager and finance colleague
  • Experience of delivering strategic financial advice and leading a team on MTFP
  • Great communication skills with the ability to work well on own initiative as well as part of a team
