Service Care Solutions are proud to be working in partnership with a leading Housing Association, one of the South’s leading Housing Associations, to recruit an experienced Arboricultural Officer. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and technically skilled arboricultural professional to join a forward-thinking organisation committed to safety, sustainability, and environmental responsibility.
Role Purpose You will be responsible for delivering expert arboricultural services across a defined geographical area. This includes conducting inspections, providing professional guidance, managing compliance with regulatory standards, and ensuring tree-related risks to residents, employees, and property are proactively addressed.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and emergency inspections of trees, record findings, and recommend appropriate actions.
- Advise internal and external stakeholders on arboricultural best practices, legal obligations, and tree safety.
- Manage tree asset data using GIS and asset management software, including ordering and monitoring works.
- Lead the response to threats such as Ash Dieback through data analysis, planning, and contractor coordination.
- Oversee contractor performance, ensuring work is completed to industry standards and represents best value.
- Review and refine policies to enhance tree management processes and customer service.
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments to ensure a joined-up approach to service delivery.
- Liaise with private landowners, local authorities, and public bodies to maintain safety and protect property assets.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant arboricultural qualification – ideally Level 4 (or lower level with substantial experience).
- In-depth understanding of tree health issues and risk-based management approaches.
- Familiarity with BS3998 and BS5837 standards.
- Experience managing tree assets in a large organisation or similar high-responsibility environment.
- Strong background in contractor supervision, inspections, and report writing.
- Competence using GIS and asset management tools for scheduling, reporting, and analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills – including public engagement.
- Ability to work independently and plan work in line with organisational priorities.
- Confident liaising with local authorities and relevant external agencies.
- A full driving licence will be required depending on the area covered.
- Must be able to pass a Basic DBS check.
